Match the density of the ironwork to the weight of the facade. Ornate patterns like Alhambra and Cordoba gather the scrolls into a dense figure and suit grand stone elevations, while lighter patterns like Salamanca keep the glass open on smaller revival homes.
Clavos, the forged studs along the stiles and rails, are a Spanish colonial signature and optional on every model. A speakeasy grille adds a period detail that still works as a modern security feature.
A single door, often with sidelites, carries most revival entries beautifully. Move to a double once the opening is about 60 inches or wider, or when the home calls for a formal arrival, and let the scroll pattern run unbroken across both leaves.
A double costs more, with more iron, more glass and heavier hardware, but it raises curb appeal and light. For arched openings, capture the radius carefully. Our measuring guide walks through it.
For an arched opening, record the width, the height to the spring line where the curve begins, and the radius of the arch itself. Send those three numbers and we build the door to match, whether the top is a full arch or a gentle eyebrow. The measuring guide includes a diagram.
